Miniature Poodles

Raising healthy and happy poodle puppies who will become cherished family members for a lifetime is our goal. We start by breeding parent poodles who not only look like poodles by the breed standard and have the silly poodle personalities but also have been health tested to make sure that we are breeding sound dogs who are not passing on possible health issues to their puppies. While I cannot control every single thing that nature passes I can do my best by testing for those things we can test for. All adult dogs are clear of DNA diseases that I can test for…therefore your puppy will be too. Parents have had eyes, hips and patellas screened as well…in the hope that our puppies will have a smaller chance of issues.

The first 12 weeks of your puppies life is pivotal in developing a happy well socialized adult dog. We do the best we can in the first 9 weeks to start them off for success. All puppies are raised in my home as family pets. They are whelped and raised in my living room with the everyday sounds and interactions from 5 children, a cat, rabbit and will have seen their first chickens and ducks. They are held, loved on and played with on a daily basis.

We follow Puppy Culture protocols in an attempt to cover all our bases and produce puppies who are brave, social, problem solving free thinkers. You can read more about the Puppy Culture program here https://www.puppyculture.com

The first 3-16 days of puppies life we do ENS ( Early Neurological Stimulation). You can read a little about it here https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/dog-breeding/breeding-tips-best-practices/puppy-socialization-series-2/ We do this for the many benefits listed and to give our pups the best start we can.

Whelping box set up for mommy and babies right in our living room.

During weeks 3-9 our puppies will begin working on litter training to make it an easier transition for housebreaking. They will start with an inside litter box in the weaning pen then around 5/6 weeks of age they will get to go out into our puppy safe patio and practice going potty outside.

All puppies will be exposed to a crate and used to sleeping and spending short periods of time in it. This gives them a safe and familiar place to be when they are transitioning to their new homes and it helps speed potty training in the new home.

Puppies will be started on clicker training per Puppy Culture protocols, learning to mand ( sit nicely to ask for what they want), practice resource guarding protocols and be started on leash training. They will be exposed to many different toys and stimulating environments to keep their little brains thinking. Puppies will have been exposed to carpet, tile, wood floor, cement, grass and bark along with new people and sounds.

Starting at 3 weeks old puppies practice being groomed weekly. Poodle puppies must learn this from an early age for a lifetime of grooming. They will have nails trimmed often, faces and feet shaved and weekly baths and blow drying.

Our puppies have tails and dewclaws done at the appropriate age ( unless being left intact). Worming at 3,5,7,9 weeks and first puppy shot a 8 weeks. They are ready for new homes at 9-10 weeks old.
